Explosive
company fuses innovation with service
PT Dahana
Mining, like any other major
industry, relies on a support network of ancillary
businesses. The sector needs explosives and the knowledge
of how to use them, and this is where PT Dahana comes
in.
Dahana has been manufacturing
explosives for more than 40 years. Since the first
dynamite plant was established in 1966, the company
has worked continuously to improve the range of services
it offers by investing in the latest technology to
ensure quality standards, providing training to improve
the capability of its manpower, and creating vital
support partnerships with companies in both the energy
and non-energy mining sectors.
Dahanas contribution
to the development of the mining industry is significant,
and includes construction of dams, coal mining activities,
and seismic prospecting for oil and gas exploration.
In addition to a wide range
of well-researched explosives, the firm now provides
drilling and blasting services, technical support,
and even helps its customers to acquire permits. We
started by supplying explosives and we are consistently
developing our business, gearing it towards services
and staying ahead of the competition, says Tanto
Dirgantoro, president director of the company.
Research and development activities,
a key element of the companys progress, are
supported by the Engineering Centre which was founded
in 1991. Continuous R&D is necessary for
reliable products as they will be obsolete by the
time higher markets and customer expectations in modern
technology grow, says Mr Dirgantoro. Last year,
Dahana was named Leading Technology Creation Company
and Pioneer of Technological Development by the Indonesian
government.
Corporate and social responsibility
remains a priority. Community support programmes include
providing soft loans for micro-businesses and supplying
assistance in health, education and youth activities,
and the firm participates in environmental protection
programmes alongside the major mining companies.
